From all respondents:

43% checked “My family expects too much from me.” 39% checked I‘m not smart enough.”

33% said “I’m shy.”

28% checked “My family won’t let me________.” 26% said “I come from a different culture.”

24% checked “I’m too smart.” 20% said “I’m too short.” 18% said “I’m poor.”

18% checked “No one believes in me.” 15.2 said “I’ve been in trouble with the law.” 15.2% checked “I’m too fat.”

12% checked “I have to take care of a parent or sibling.” 12% said “I’m too thin.”

12% said “I have impaired vision.”

11% reported “I come from a single parent home.” 11% checked “I’m too tall.”

11% said “I’m rich.”

9% checked “I’ve been treated for emotional problems. 9% listed “I’ve had a serious illness.”

9% reported “I’m blind.”( But evidence indicates they just have impaired vision.) 7% wrote in “work” as an excuse.

7% checked “I’ve been persecuted for my beliefs.
